Records Request

The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for providing crime investigation, traffic enforcement, civil process service, court bailiffs, anti-drug abuse enforcement and education. The Sheriff’s Office also oversees the operation of the Trempealeau County Jail and Dispatch Center.

When making a request please be as specific as possible by including the case number, (if available), names, dates, times, locations, etc.

Requests May Be made:

  • By completing the Printable Form which can be mailed, faxed, emailed or brought in-person
  • By Telephone
  • In Person

Completed records requests will be mailed to the requestor, or may be picked up in person at the Sheriff’s Office. We DO NOT e-mail completed requests.

Business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Requests will be fulfilled as soon as practicable and without delay based on the order in which they are received. Under Wisconsin law, a request for access to a public record may not be refused because the person making the request is unwilling to be identified. However, if the request involves restricted record access, we will contact you to obtain proof that you are someone statutorily authorized to obtain the requested record.

Where a search or other time-consuming effort is expanded in order to retrieve or produce copies for the benefit of any person, the actual, necessary and direct costs of such search or other efforts shall be borne by the requesting party. No fee for a search shall be charged unless the costs of the search exceed $50.
