The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Team (ERT) is a combined unit consisting of highly trained personnel from the Sheriff's Office and two municipalities within the county. ERT members are full-time law enforcement deputies / officers who, in addition to their regular assigned patrol duties, commit to the extra training and responsibilities required to be a member of the team. The Emergency Response Team are subject to "call-out" 24 hours a day.
Each member is trained to perform high-risk operations that fall outside of the abilities of regular officers. ERT is equipped with specialized firearms and equipment that allows them to effectively deal with hazardous or threatening situations to include hostage rescues, counter-terrorism operations, high risk arrests or search warrants, subdue barricaded suspects, and engage heavily-armed criminals.

The Emergency Response Team has and continues to be utilized by municipalities within Trempealeau County and has provided mutual aid response to jurisdictions outside of Trempealeau County.
