History

old tvTCCTV currently plays more than 100 hours per week of programming, on Channel 18 of the Tri-County Communications Cooperative, Inc. Cable TV system. ( TCC ) This system serves over 7000 subscribers in Trempealeau County the northern half of Jackson County, and the Village of Fairchild in Eau Claire County.

Community volunteers and our small staff locally produce the vast majority of our programming.

TCCTV Executive Director is John Kelly, Programming Coordinator is John Kamroski , and a Control Room Operator Richard Joten. The operation is over-seen by the Extension Education and Communications Committee of the Trempealeau County Board of Supervisors.

Programming began on this channel in March of 1981, with about four hours per week of programs. The early days were funded in part by grants from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Federal Government. Current funding comes from Trempealeau County, The TCC , Underwriting from local businesses, Contributions from organizations and individuals, and a Senior Community Service Employment Grant.

More than 1000 programs are produced for local viewing on TCCTV each year. These programs were replayed on the channel from 3 to 6 times, for a grand total of about 4000 hours of scheduled television programming each year.

Programming is scheduled from approximately 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. every day. During non-scheduled hours, the computer generated Community Bulletin Board, carries public service messages and TCCTV announcements.

There are approximately thirty ongoing programs that are produced on a regular basis for local viewing on TCCTV. These include the Trempealeau County Board of Supervisors meeting each month, monthly reports by State Senator Kathleen Vinehout and Assembly Rep. Chris Danou, Health Concerns of Women & Children, Discover Trempealeau County, Sheriff's Report, and many others including the very popular program: "Musicians In Our Midst".

Each program produced for TCCTV viewing is normally scheduled from playback five times over a two week period. We attempt to schedule the programs in a variety of evening, morning and daytime slots. Many programs are saved in the TCCTV library for a period of months, or even years, depending on their perceived popularity. Video tape or DVD copies of any program in our collection can be purchased for a fee.
