Trempealeau County Web Mapping

The Land Records Department is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and management of an enterprise geographic information system (GIS).  Pursuit of this objective is accomplished using a variety of means, but critical elements in the process are a variety of GIS related technologies.  GIS technologies provide tools for modernizing land records information systems.  Current modernization activities in Trempealeau County involve building the foundational elements such as parcels, digital orthophotography, and remonumentation.  The Land Records Department is also intensively building GIS knowledge and skills by offering training to staff in the software, models, and data used in Trempealeau County.

Land Records modernization activities in Wisconsin are guided by the Wisconsin Land Information Program (WLIP), the Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA), and the Office of Land Information Services (Wisconsin DOA).  Trempealeau County is eligible to receive annual grant awards by participating in the WLIP.  The funding received through the WLIP is used to modernize land records through the purchase of software, hardware, training, and consulting services.  Modernization efforts in Trempealeau County benefit county departments, private entities, other government organizations, and citizens.
