Water Quality
Water quality is the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of water. It is a measure of the condition of water relative to the requirements of one or more biotic species and or to any human need or purpose. The most common standards used to assess water quality relate to drinking water, safety of human contact and for the health of ecosystems.
Drinking Water
Safe, clean water is one of the most important substances in our lives - for drinking, cooking, bathing and cleaning. The environmental health specialist offers water screening for Trempealeau County residents by appointment, at local health fairs and dairy breakfast. Screening include: nitrates, iron, hardness and pH analysis. Result interpretation, treatment options and education are provided at times of screening. The Health Department also has water kids available for bacteria testing.
