* * Passports * * A reminder to the public that the second phase of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative will go into effect on June1, 2009. U.S. citizens will then be required to have a passport book, passport card, or other documents approved by the Department of Homeland Security to enter the Unites States by land or sea. We would like to strongly recommend that you visits: www.dhs.gov. and for detailed descriptions of other acceptable documentation. It is also important to provide a certified copy of the birth certificate when applying at the Clerk of Court's office for a passport. The Hospital Birth Certificate is not an accepted document. It may be a good time to check over your records to see that you have a certified copy of your birth certificate - you will need this for applying for a drivers license and also social security. If you do not have a certified copy of your birth certificate, one can be obtained from the county in which you were born. |
