The Jackson/Trempealeau County Crime Stoppers organization has been in existence since 1989, operating a toll-free number for concerned citizens to report information on crimes in both counties.  The goals of Crime Stoppers are to solve crimes, reduce the number of crimes being committed, and reduce the number of victims affected by crime.

The Jackson/Trempealeau County Crime Stoppers Board of Directors is made up of involved citizens with the responsibility for establishing policy, raising funds, and controlling the amount of reward payments.  This program offers anonymity and cash rewards to persons who furnish information leading the arrest and filing of criminal charges against felony crime offenders and to the capture of fugitives.  

When a person calls the 800 number with a tip they are given a code number and instructed to call back to check on the validity of their information.  If the information checks out and leads to an arrest and prosecution, the caller may receive a reward of up to $1,000 depending on the type of case solved.
